The age of the AI enhanced PC is here, not only with AMD’s next-gen Ryzen 8040 processor for notebooks, but the new 8000G desktop processors have arrived too, offering “immense performance for gamers and creators” while unlocking new personal AI experiences with Ryzen AI.
First announced at CES 2024, AMD’s new Ryzen 8000G Series Desktop processors are not only the world’s first desktop processors with a dedicated AI engine, they are actually now available to buy.
The Ryzen 8000G Series features the fastest built-in graphics in its class to deliver incredible power, performance and efficiency – without the need for an additional graphics card, as AMD’s processors are already able to deliver stunning graphics capabilities, but an additional graphics card can be installed too, if desired.
This inbuilt graphics prowess is known as AMD Radeon 700M Series Graphics, and unlike the rather anaemic graphics capabilities Intel processors have always demonstrated, AMD’s system creates a huge performance boost from exclusive AMD HYPER-RX with Fluid Motion Frames at 1080p.
There’s AMD EXPO technology, which enables higher memory frequencies and advanced timings to unlock smoother frame rates, something ever gamer craves.
Of course, there’s more – the Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) feature allows one-touch overclocking to give users an extra CPU boost with increased power limits, which reminds me of the “turbo button” those IBM PC-XT clones from the early 1980s offered, except now in much more sophisticated 2024 stylings.
The AMD Ryzen 8000G series is also compatible with motherboards using the AM5 socket standard, allowing end-users to upgrade the processor in their computers without needing to upgrade the motherboard, too, extending the life span of existing systems.
AMD bills this as “the ultimate all-in-one desktop processor”, being perfect for those wanting to enter the AM5 ecosystem and enjoy a smooth 1080p experience today, with the option to upgrade with a discrete graphics card later for even higher fidelity gameplay.
