A NSW Government rebate of $3000 for new EV (electric vehicle) purchases ends on December 31, 3023. Along with a $500 rebate top-up from BYD if purchasing and taking delivery of a BYD Atto 3 by December 31, and either way, you have an excellent opportunity to go electric and never need to buy petrol again! Luke Todd joins me in a video interview – and more, plus news on BYD’s impressive Australian expansion plans below.
Not only is BYD Asia Pacific management visiting Australia in early December 2023 to announce a considerable expansion plan in partnership with local distribution partner EVDirect, but the time to claim a generous $3000 rebate from the NSW Government to buy a new EV is running out!
In response to the NSW Government announcing that it will wind up its $3000 electric vehicle rebate on 31 December 2023 after the Victorian Government did the same on 30 June this year, BYD Australia has come to the assistance of purchasers in NSW.
The company is doing so with the assurance that everyone will have the ability to secure a BYD EV to take advantage of the limited rebate (capped at 25,000 since its inception) as long as they do not delay their purchase. BYD Automotive is also offering a further $500 Rebate top up on all Atto 3’s purchased and delivered by the end of the year.
There’s also more detail on BYD’s expansion plans into Australia below, but until 31 December 2023, BYD Automotive has in place at its BYD Megastore in Alexandria, a dedicated rebate team (including a hotline and online response team), to accommodate what is expected to be a busy purchasing period for those looking to take advantage of up to $3500 off their EV purchase.
Full details are below, but first, here’s the video of Luke Todd, BYD Australia Executive Chairman, and Founder & CEO of EVDirect with the announcement:
To date, BYD Automotive Australia has sold over 12,000 EVs in the country with 301,833 sold just last month globally. It has also added two new models to the marketplace this year, including the BYD SEAL Sedan starting delivery from December 2023, and the BYD DOLPHIN which started deliveries in October.
Luke Todd, CEO and MD of BYD Automotive’s Australian distributer EVDirect.com, says, “Just as we did for Victorians before their government’s electric vehicle rebate ended on 30 June this year, it is important for us as a company to now rally for those in NSW ahead of the announcement that the rebate scheme will end on 31 December 2023. BYD will commit an unlimited number of award-winning BYD ATTO 3s for delivery to NSW buyers who are eligible for the $3000 rebate.”
Mr Todd added that the BYD DOLPHIN and SEAL models will also be available to purchasers looking to take advantage of the $3000 rebate by ordering before 31 December 2023.
“What we’ve uncovered, is that many prospective EV buyers are not aware that the NSW rebate in capped at 25,000 across the state since it was first announced. We expect purchasing activity to ramp up over the next six weeks as a result of its’ wind down, so we urge those considering going electric, to get in fast to avoid disappointment,” Mr Todd concluded.
The announcement comes as BYD Automotive launched its own EV portable charger arm EVSwitch.com, which has further reinforced its mission to make EV ownership affordable for every Australian, with the chargers priced at just $499.
You can see my video interview with Luke Todd embedded immediately below, which also includes information on the chargers.
There’s also a great discussion between Luke Todd and Edgar from EasyAuto123, showing how easy it is to trade in your petrol car for a shiny new BYD EV – see the details below, after which are details of BYD Asia-Pacific’s significant Australian expansion plans, please watch and read on!
So, what are the details on the Head of BYD Asia-Pacific, Mr Liu Xueliang, coming to Australia next week to sign off on significant expansion plans?
Well, Mr Liu Xueliang is the GM of BYD’s APAC Automotive Sales Division, and he will not only be in Australia to officially open the BYD Service and Support Centre at Mascot, which can be glimpsed in the videos above, but also to formally announce a considerable expansion plan in partnership with local distribution partner EVDirect.
There will be a special media event on December 4, but unfortunately, I won’t be there as I’ll be on a plane to San Francisco for an AMD event, but hopefully the event will be filmed, and I will happily share the video at TechAdvice.Life!
However, the details are that expansion plans have been under discussion for many months and confirmed on the back of the recent successful launches of the BYD Dolphin and Seal (with the Seal launch viewable on YouTube here). https://www.youtube.com/live/4zYZL3I7yU4?si=R6B5ggSW0WjF91Ez&t=131
We’re told the expansion plans will underpin the lofty goals of BYD to be a top 5 brand in Australia with aspirations of reaching the number one spot.
The expansion includes the opening of an additional 30 new retail outlets and more service locations within the next 18 months.
With this announcement comes the commitment from BYD to hold additional stock of EV’s in Australia. BYD is demonstrating to be a leader of the EV transition in Australia and this further commitment positions BYD as a company that can supply the increasing demand for electric vehicles with Australia.
In addition to the unveiling, there will be an exclusive opportunity for the media to engage in a Q&A session with Mr. Liu Xueliang, General Manager of the Asia Pacific Automobile Sales Division at BYD, offering insights and further information about BYD’s innovative endeavours and future plans, so hopefully this will also be captured on video so that I can share it with you.
