In the video interview above, we started by talking about Nataliya’s article on Grok at The Conversation, and how Grok has which has made a name for itself by not only being Elon Musk’s brainchild, and not only in seeming to be as good as ChatGPT, but for also beingg programmed with a fun and rebellious streak.
Next, we spoke about Nataliya’s contribution to the Australian Government’s investigation into its Responsible AI Regulation bill and her involvement, while also looking at the reality of regulation – and the dangers of over-regulation that threatens the free market.
Elon Musk’s stated desire to be a free speech champion was examined, given the mixed reality of Elon’s actions in this regard, after which we discussed whether AI really would take everyone’s jobs as is widely feared – something Dr Ilyushina has very strong views on.
After musing on when AI will reach “artificial general intelligence”, and when we might see sentient humanoid androids that, per Isaac Asimov, would be indistinguishable from actual humans, we then
Nataliya shared her views on the range of AI and LLM (large language models), and which ones were her favourites, along with whether she had played with OpenAI’s custom GPTs – and if there was work at RMIT on creating their own custom GPT models.
Nataliya shared the best place to find out more about her work, which is at her LinkedIn page, and accepted my invitation to appear as a guest on the show again!
It was a true pleasure to interview Dr Nataliya Ilyushina, a person whose breadth and depth of knowledge on these absolutely cutting edge AI, business, economics and regulatory topics is so impressive and up-to-the-minute.
