If you have Apple devices that still get either operating system updates, or might not get the latest OS update but still get security updates, which is often the case for older devices that are still in use, then Apple’s latest updates are, as usual, something you should install right away.

For iPhone users, the Journal app that intelligently helps you journal and reminder the important events from your life, with text, photos, video and more is now available to all iOS 17.2 users.

There are, of course, the usual range of security updates that fix bugs that hackers and cybercriminals can take advantage of to break into your phone or other Apple device, so please don’t delay, and check your Apple devices for updates – along with your other tech, too.

Too many people delay or postpone the updates, perhaps because they’ve run out of space on their devices, and the updates should happen automatically, but nothing stop you from doing manual updates.

Other features for iPhones include the ability for iPhone 15 Pro models to take what is known as spatial photos and videos – basically these are 3D photos and videos that, when seen on the as yet unavailable Apple Vision Pro headset, will feel really immersive – they’ll be the closest thing to recording actually being in the moment, more than we’ve ever been able to experience before.

There are also improvements to the weather app that will give you greater details on exactly when it’s going to rain, and for how long, with greater accuracy.

There are also improvements to the way you can catch up on messages, but the improved ability to send high quality photos and videos to Android users with RCS messaging doesn’t appear to be here yet – that feature is still coming.
