ARNOLD & SON 1764

Named after John Arnold, English watchmaker of the 18th century renowned for his ingenuity and work on marine chronometers, Arnold & Son perpetuates his legacy to this day, exploring contemporary ways to interpret traditional watch craftsmanship. The style of Arnold & Son timepieces is instantly recognisable. The three-dimensional architecture of their movements, the late-18th-century-style cantilever balance-cocks, the George-V-style bridges, the constant quest for multiaxial symmetry and the artfully crafted guilloché dials go hand-in-hand with open worked components, from a single barrel to the full range of grande complication calibres.

Perrelet at the Sydney International Watch Fair – Artisans of Time:

PERRELET 1777

Perrelet’s history dates back to 1777, when master watchmaker Abraham-Louis Perrelet developed his completely revolutionary invention – the self-winding or automatic movement. To this very day nobody has managed to improve on this to give life to mechanical calibers and his invention continues to make its mark on watchmaking history.

In 1780, Perrelet developed the first pedometer and becomes the first person to create watches with a cylinder, duplex, calendar and equation escapements. He worked on further refining gear trains and improving pinions, gears, the escapement as well as his unique automatic winding mechanism.

Today, the brand based in Bienne continues to manufacture watches with the same high standard and innovations and its collections remain true to its heritage.

Mauron Musy: Dmitry Nekrasov, Sydney International Watch Fair:

MAURON MUSY

Mauron Musy is an independent and family-owned brand established in Switzerland’s Broye Valley, with a DNA steeped in industrial design and mechanical technology. With its philosophy based on both watch exterior complications and Swiss craftsmanship, it stands out for its invention of the first mechanical direct-seal gasket-free water-tightness technology mechanical sealing system.

Mauron Musy is the brainchild of Eric Mauron and his son-in-law Christophe Musy. At the heart of the watches is Mauron Musy’s patented nO-Ring® gasket-free technology. The name is a play on words, adding a single letter to negate the widely used O-ring gaskets that guarantee water resistance in a watch. The nO-Ring® system uses a purely mechanical seal without any synthetic material, greatly improving the lifespan of the watch (the brand recommends service intervals of 7 years – the longest in the industry). Water resistance is even guaranteed with the crown pulled out in the winding position – it can even be operated underwater.

The watch industry had seen no significant breakthroughs in this field for over 130 years.
