Every year at this time, major chipmaker Qualcomm holds the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, with Qualcomm making the main chips for the most popular smartphones and tablets, for 5G connectivity, and with truly incredible AI capabilities that run in the palm of your hand.
If you have an Android smartphone, and especially one of the flagship models from Samsung and others, the chances are very high that it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
These processors are the brains of modern smartphones and tablets, just as Intel and AMD chips are the brains of most PCs running Windows, and Apple’s A and M-series chips are the brains of its iPhones, iPads and Macs.
Every year, each of these companies competes with each other to bring consumers the most advanced capabilities, at faster speeds, with better graphics, using less power than ever before, and now, with as many AI capabilities as possible.
Qualcomm has also announced a new AI-enhanced chip to power laptop and notebook PCs running Windows, using the Snapdragon X Elite chip, said to be more powerful than Apple’s M2 Max chip, and the most powerful 13th-generation chip from Intel, while using less power, and packed with AI enhancements,
You can visit the Qualcomm Snapdragon Hub here to get all of the Day 1 announcements (with two more days still to go!), but here are three videos – the first showcases the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s capabilities, the second looks at the Snapdragon X Elite chip, and the third is the full two hour day 1 keynote – which, if you’re a fan of technology, is an absolutely must-watch event!
Qualcomm also announced its new S7 and S7 Pro sound platform that delivers the best sounding earbuds yet, and which enables sound to not just be transferred over Bluetooth, but also Wi-Fi, so you can go for a walk far away from your PC or smartphone, and as long as you’re on your home or office’s same WI-Fi network, you’ll stay connected to the call or the listening experience!
There’s also Snapdragon Seamless, which lets your Android-powered smartphone, Android-powered tablet and Windows PC work seamlessly together to share the mouse cursor and keyboard, easily copy and paste files between each platform and more, which you can read about here.
