– And with folding devices previously delivering a device that, in its early days, was almost like two smartphones unfolding side-by-side, the Fold 7 changes this up in the most striking way.
– Not only is the Fold 7 a stunning 4.2mm thin when unfolded into its 8-inch sized tablet, but when it folds into the traditional “bar” style phone, it is a mind-boggling 8.9mm thin.

– When I hold the Fold 7 as a bar phone in front of an iPhone 16 Pro Max, well, when not counting the camera sections that protrude from both the iPhone and Galaxy ranges, the actual bodies of the phone seem identical in width.
– Samsung has made its Fold 7 phone FEEL like a regular smartphone when folded, with a 6.5-inch outer screen, through to a glorious 8-inch tablet that is unveiled when the phone is opened up, like the sleekest book you ever saw.
I’ve already had the chance to show the review unit in my possession to people, and they are absolutely stunned.
– A technical tour-de-force, this is THE phone of 2025, and with its 7 years of OS and security updates, its 200 megapixel wide-angle (main) camera that befits its “Ultra”-class status, its 12 megapixel ultra-wide camera and 10 megapixel telephoto camera on the back.
– It has a 10 megapixel camera on the front of the tablet screen, and another 10 megapixel camera on the front of the main screen when closed.
– And despite being thinner that last year’s model, battery life is the same at 4400mAh, with one hour longer video playback, while sporting the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, that is noticeably better than the standard version other smartphones use.
One thing of note – there is no stylus or stylus support with the Fold 7, but given there is still the S25 Ultra with S-Pen stylus, and Samsung tablets with S-Pen stylus too, if you really need a dedicated stylus, you have other hardware options available.
