Apple has started a new privacy campaign warning that your browsing habits are being watched, and that Safari on Apple’s devices is the most privacy focused browser out there, and an ad campaign that turns security cameras into what look like hawks or bats spying on everything you do.

Safari is Apple’s browser on iPhone, iPad, Macs and now Apple’s Vision Pro headset, too. It has always boasted a very fast speed, it is much more battery efficient on Macs that Chrome, and it has long had privacy protections, including the invention of Private Browsing back in 2005.

You can read Apple’s detailed Webkit blog post on just how and why Apple secures you and your privacy here.

Below are some more details on what Apple is doing, but here’s Apple’s excellent new ad campaign:

Apple’s browseri has enjoyed a history of blocking third-party cookies, and also introduced something called Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP), which uses machine learning to block trackers and hide IP addresses, and this is turned on by default.

Safari protects users’ location data by not sharing it with search engines and providing granular control over location sharing.

Safari also supports web extensions, but adds additional protections like informing users about the data extensions can access and allowing restricted access.

So, there are aggressive tracker protections, link tracking protection, and advanced fingerprinting protection. You can even choose a different search engine in private browsing.

And compared with Google Chrome, Safari’s is unquestionably superior protections against tracking and data collection.

I personally use the 1Blocker app on iPhone, iPad and Mac for even greater security.
