Lenovo is not only the world’s largest PC brand, it is a global technology powerhouse, with a “bold vision to deliver smarter technology for all” via server, storage, mobile, solutions and services that are more inclusive, trustworthy and sustainable. Lenovo is a Chinese technology company that grew to global status a long time ago, having purchased IBM’s legendary ThinkPad business back in 2005, and Motorola Mobility in 2014.
Fast forward to 2023, and not only is Lenovo the world’s largest PC company, but it is far larger than that, with several divisions you can learn more about here, spanning PCs, smart devices, mobiles, infrastructure, storage, servers, cloud computing, analytics, AI, solutions, services and more.
Today however, we are focusing on Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), and specifically Nigel Lee,, the AP Director of Storage at Lenovo ISG.

The ISG division states its “technology and insight power the data-centred heart of smarter retail, smarter manufacturing, smarter cities, smarter healthcare, smarter finance, and beyond”, and does this “through edge and cloud computing, analytics and artificial intelligence, and Infrastructure-As-a-Service via TruScale”, while being what Lenovo claims is “the only data centre provider with end-to-end manufacturing.”
Indeed, the ISG group has some impressive accolades, proudly noting at its site that it is #1 on Top500 Supercomputing list, with 162 of the TOP500 systems, as well as being #1 in Lenovo ThinkSystem server reliability for 7 consecutive years. Other accolades include delivering products to 6 of the top 10 hyperscalers in the world, shipping more that 12,000 SAP HANA systems worldwide, with 17 of the top 25 research universities in the world running Lenovo, 1 in 3 supercomputers running Lenovo and with Lenovo also being a leader in liquid cooling for those servers. Most recently, they attained #1 position, leading the under 25K (entry-level) storage category and #5 overall storage worldwide.
Lenovo ISG also recently commissioned, via IDC, the Lenovo ISG Smarter Data Management Playbook 2023,, a detailed 33-page report which looks at the sates of Data Management in the APAC region, surveying 554 IT and business decision makers from a select organisations across Asia Pacific, including Australia, providing insights into the challenges that organisations face in managing data, their priorities in investing in Data Management, and the key imperatives for transforming their data infrastructure.
