With cyber security the biggest issue challenging businesses, organisations, hospitals, governments and us all as never before, what does the Chief Realist of world-class Phronesis Security predict will happen in 2024 – be it with AI and everything else?

On the third episode of Talking Tech with Alex Zaharov-Reutt on the brilliant 24×7 TV and radio news network, TNTRadio.Live, I spoke with Elliot Dellys, the CEO and Chief Realist of Australian cyber security company, Phronesis Security.

I started by welcoming Elliot, and asking him to give us his wrap on the cyber war being waged globally, in the face of constant news reports of ransomware attacks, password leaks, hacks into major companies, government departments and individuals.

Next, we looked at Elliot’s top 10 cyber security predictions for 2024, as published at LinkedIn, which you can read here, with Elliot sharing the top three.

Elliot then explained what the most common things a security audit uncovers when a new client comes on board, something that should ring alarm bells for all companies out there.

We then discussed the types of security threats made against his staff and himself, given that successfully attacking a cyber security company would be something cyber criminals are attempting to do, not just to cyber security CEOs and staff, but to virtually everyone.

I asked Elliot how common attacks are on outdated operating systems on smartphones and tablets, which a lot of people just aren’t updating properly, despite companies having management systems to automate the devices, computers and servers that belong to companies, but which doesn’t usually extend to people’s personal devices – which means an attack vector exists.

After this, I asked Elliot to explain the origin of the term “Phronesis”, and why he decided to use it for his company name.

We finished with Elliot answering my question over whether a Generative AI chatbot was on the roadmap for the Phronesis Security dashboard for customers to talk with, or whether humans would remain the primary interface for customers to engage with.
