BMC is a global leader in software solutions for the Autonomous Digital Enterprise, and not only are they at the forefront of game-changing AI and data solutions, they are transforming the connected digital ops landscape, blending AIOps, DataOps, ServiceOps, SecOps, DevOps and AutonomousOps, mainframes, ITSM, GPT and more!
BMC Software was founded in 1980 as a software developer for IBM mainframe systems, expanding its offerings to other systems such as Windows a decade later.
Today, BMC software serves over 10,000 businesses, including 86% of the Forbes Global 50, with more than 6,000 employees who are working and innovating at the cutting edge of technology.
Over the past couple of months, BMC has been holding its BMC Connect 2023 events around the world, with two major BMC Connect events still to be held – Stuttgart on November 28, and London on November 30.
At the events already held, and the last two to come, attendees heard from business and technology luminaries sharing insights around operationalising innovation for competitive advantage through Connected Digital Ops: the intersection of AIOps, DataOps, ServiceOps, DevOps, and AutonomousOps.
I was able to interview three top BMC executives – Ram Chakravarti, CTO of BMC, Margaret Lee, BMC’s SVP and GM of Digital Service and Operations Management, and April Hickel, the VP of Product Management for Mainframe at BMC – and you’ll see those video interviews and three more video filmed during the event further below, but first some more information on BMC’s recent achievements.
Being a global leader in software solutions for the Autonomous Digital Enterprise means BMC is making a genuine difference to its customers globally, and has won accolades recognising this, with its Control-M platform being awarded the overall highest score for the seventh consecutive time in the 2023 EMA Radar Report for Workload Automation (WLA) and Orchestration, a recognition it has held since 2010. The BMC Helix Control-M SaaS offering is also recognised.
There’s also BMC’s expansion of its generative AI capabilities, embedding them into its entire AI-driven service and operations management portfolio — with BMC the first vendor in the industry to do so.
As BMC explains, “the BMC HelixGPT solution connects and distills data sources across the enterprise to deliver plain-language, actionable insights for autonomous resolution by connecting AIOps, DevOps, and ServiceOps.”
According to the 2023 Gartner Hype Cycle for ITSM, most technology products and services will incorporate generative AI capabilities in the next 12 months, introducing conversational ways of creating and communicating with technologies, leading to their democratisation, so BMC is definitely ahead of the curve, and is bringing the benefits to its customers – and the customers of those customers – as early as possible.
BMC has also announced new AIOps capabilities for the BMC Helix Operations Management solution using its BMC HelixGPT capability. The BMC Helix Operations Management solution transforms IT operations with out-of-the-box service blueprints for dynamic service modelling, easy-to-read situation explainability, and situation fingerprinting to remember similar situations. It also improved deep container auto-detection for an in-depth understanding of containeriaed environments.
As customers deal with increasingly complex hybrid, multi-cloud environments marked by the increased volume and complexity of data, they need the power of advanced AI and machine learning to drive greater visibility and observability, while also providing optimum availability and performance of business services.
“Enterprises that modernise their environments by adopting hybrid and cloud-native technologies must also modernise their approach to IT operations,” said Nancy Gohring, research director for IDC’s Enterprise System Management, Observability and AIOps program.
“AIOps capabilities that harness AI to remove complexity by pinpointing the cause of problems, guiding users to the correct response and predicting potential future issues are key to ensuring that services deliver on business outcomes.”
The BMC Helix Operations Management solution combines the power of advanced causal AI to identify the root cause of issues, predictive AI to enable customers to identify and address problems before they happen, and generative AI to automate event summaries and best action recommendations for complex problems so teams know what to do next.
These innovations enable IT operations to deliver higher service availability and resilience to the business. This is because they can drive more efficient operational performance with greater visibility across tool silos and use superior AI-driven insights for significantly improved mean time to identification (MTTI) and mean time to repair (MTTR) of problems.
There’s also the mainframe, which far from being a relic of the past, remains a growing platform for innovation in the modern enterprise.
BMC’s 18th annual mainframe survey, dubbed the 2023 Mainframe Survey Report, reinforces the value https://www.bmc.com/newsroom/releases/mainframe-investments-show-significant-momentum-in-devops-aiops-with-focus-on-security.html of the mainframe and its continued growth as a platform for innovation, with that survey able to be read in full here. http://www.bmc.com/documents/e-book/building-the-digital-mainframe.html?cid=pr-pr-IZOT_Global_Mainframe_Survey_Release_2023_Press_Release&cc=pr&sn=pr&elqcid=22083&sfcid=7013n000001NytV
