Apple’s October event is being held in the US on the 30th of October at 5pm PT, which is 11am AEDT in Sydney Australia on October 31st, and it looks like Apple will launch new Macs.
Apple has announced an October 2023 event after all, but whether we’ll see any new iPads, as has been predicted several times this year, is as yet unknown.
Newer predictions state we’ll see a new 24-inch iMac computer featuring the M2 chip, while others suggest this will see the introduction of the even faster and brand new M3 chip.
Apple is being challenged by Qualcomm, who just announced its Snapdragon X Elite chip, which Qualcomm claims is faster than an Apple M2 Max chip, and faster than Intel’s top-of-the-line 13th-generation chip, while using less power, but Qualcomm’s chip apparently won’t arrive until next year.
Whether Apple launches the M3 processor this year or not, the current iMac uses an M1 chip, so it is due for an upgrade either way.
There has also been talk that Apple would upgrade its iPad Air line with M2 processors, as the current models use the M1, and would introduce a 12.9-inch sized version, something only available with the more expensive iPad Pro.
Apple might also update the entry-level and cheapest iPad-line with an M1 or M2 processor, but the rumours now say any new iPads will come in 2024, and the October event in Mac only.
We’re yet to see what Apple will launch, but a hint is given with the tagline “scary fast” – this would be more true if Apple launched the M3, which would be its best chip yet. We’ll have to wait and see whether Apple has any tricks or treats for us on Hallow’s Eve!
